Four killed in road crashes
At least four people were killed in separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Narayanganj yesterday.
Our Correspondent from Mymensingh adds: Two drivers were killed and five others injured in a road accident on Mymensingh-Dhaka highway at Chelarghat in Trishal upazila yesterday.
The dead were identified as bus driver Mafizur Rahman, 40, and truck driver Habibur Rahman, 46.
Police and witnesses said the accident occurred when Dhaka-bound truck from Mymensingh collided head-on with a passenger bus from Dhaka at Chalerghat, leaving the two drivers dead on the spot and injuring five passengers.
Of the injured, four were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Agitated people blocked the road for about one hour in protest against the accident. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control and vehicle movement resumed after one hour of disruption.
A case was filed with Trishal Police Station in this connection.
Our correspondent from Narayanganj reports: Two unidentified children were killed in a road accident in front of Kanchpur Sinha Textile Mills on Dhaka-Sylhet highway yesterday.
The children were run over by a bus, leaving them dead on the spot.
Khondkar Shafiqul Alam, officer-in-charge of Sonargaon Police Station, said they are trying to know the identity of the deceased.
