HC declares PSC recommendation illegal
The High Court (HC) yesterday declared illegal and void the Public Service Commission (PSC) recommendations for recruiting 13 associate professors (child) and 15 associate professors (medicine) for the public hospitals.
Upon a writ petition filed by two associate professors Dr Jhulon Rani Dash and Dr Goutam Kumar Roy, an HC bench comprising Justice Mirza Hussain Haider and Justice Mamnoon Rahman delivered the verdict.
The petitioners' lawyer advocate Salauddin Dolon in a press releases said the HC delivered the judgment on the ground that the PSC did not publish any advertisement for recruiting the associate professors.
The petitioners said the PSC authorities on May 28, 2006, published an advertisement for appointing six associate professors (child) and 10 associate professors (medicine).
"The PSC on December 16, 2006, recommended to the government to appoint 13 associate professors (child) in place of six and on February 13 in 2007 recommended to appoint 15 associate professors (medicine) in place of 10 without any advertisement.
The recommendations were made to appoint the doctors on political consideration," the petitioners said.
