BNP teams to monitor party activities at dists
BNP in a joint meeting yesterday decided to send organisational teams to the district level soon to monitor the party activities.
“The teams led by senior leaders of the party will visit the districts soon to see the organisational activities,” party Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain told reporters after the meeting held at his NAM flat in the city.
Leaders and former lawmakers of BNP and its front organisations attended the meeting with Delwar in the chair.
Demanding the cancellation of the election commission's (EC) gazette notification that declared the demarcations of parliamentary constituencies, he said the parliament has the jurisdiction to do this but they (election commission) have done it only to delay the election.
Terming the EC activities autocratic, he said it (EC) is trying to promulgate the representation of people's order to control the political parties.
“Stop the city corporation and municipality election. No election could be held before national election,” he called on the election commission.
He also demanded the release of party Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son and asked the government to send Tarique abroad for treatment.
“Cases have been filed against the political leaders intentionally to refrain them from participating in the election.”
“We don't want corruption but trials have to be conducted under the existing laws,” he said, adding that the election should be held within October after the state of emergency is withdrawn.
