Egypt urged to import Bangladeshi goods

President Iajuddin yesterday told the Egyptian envoy in Dhaka that the government of Egypt could import high-class pharmaceuticals, melamine, garments and jute goods from Bangladesh at competitive prices.
He said this when newly appointed Egyptian Ambassador Fayez Mustafa Noseir presented his credentials to him at Bangabhaban yesterday.
Iajuddin also told the envoy that the next parliamentary elections in Bangladesh would be held within the timeframe set by the Election Commission.
He stressed the importance of exchange of visits by trade delegations between the two countries for exploring avenues of economic cooperation in addition to exchange of educational programmes.
He sought the envoy's personal initiative in finalising the proposed agreement on establishing Bangladesh-Egypt Joint Commission regarding trade and investment, science and technological cooperation, economic and technical cooperation and cooperation in agriculture.
The president assured the envoy of all support and cooperation in discharging his duties in Bangladesh and wished him a good health and happiness.
He also invited the president of Egypt through the envoy to visit Bangladesh at his convenient time.
The Ambassador said relations between the two countries are 'excellent'. He said his country is eager to work with Bangladesh for enhancing bilateral trade and commerce.
