Hospital for the poor opens in Thakurgaon
A 30-bed hospital for the poor named Thakurgaon Shasthaseba Hospital opened in Thakurgaon yesterday.
Brig Gen (retd) MA Malek, special assistant to the chief adviser of caretaker government opened the hospital as chief guest. The hospital will provide treatment to poor people in the district by providing 30 per cent concession to them.
Fritos Mendert, Charge de Affairs of the Netherlands Embassy, Dr AK Azad Khan and Maj Gen (retd) Prof AR Khan, president and general secretary of Bangladesh Diabetic Association, ORBIS Bangladesh country director Dr Abu Rayhan and Thakurgaon deputy commissioner Abdullah Al-Mamun were present as special guests.
The hospital was built at a cost of Tk 14cr funded by the Bangladesh and the Netherlands governments. The hospital will be upgraded to 100 beds in future, hospital sources.
