Celebrating 400 years of Dhaka city
HSBC launched a historic map of Old Dhaka on June 25 to mark the occasion of 400 years of Dhaka as a capital city, says a press release. The map features 58 of the city's most significant landmarks with photographs and a brief narrative about each site. The proceeds from the sales of this map will directly benefit charitable causes within Bangladesh, like helping the needy and disabled, and providing education for underprivileged children.
In addition, HSBC is sponsoring a play on 400 years of our capital city, which will be staged at the National Theatre in Segunbagicha in mid-July. Premiere show of the play will be held on July 17, and proceeds from the screenings will also be donated for charitable use.
On this occasion, HSBC will also be sponsoring an exhibition of photographs by some of the leading photographers of the country at the Drik Gallery from July 13. The initiatives taken by HSBC are to ensure the conservation of heritage sites and present the people with an essence of Old Dhaka.
