Hasina's right ear damaged
Former prime minister and Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina's right ear is impaired but she can now hear fairly with her left ear after doctors adjusted the hearing device installed into her ears, according to ear specialist Dr Michael B Fosi.
The ear specialist said there is no possibility of success in repairing her right ear even after treatment, according to a report of New York based news agency News World.
Hasina went to Orlando in Florida for further check-up. Dr Michael B Fosi has asked that the AL chief to see him in September for follow-up treatment. He will also examine the AL chief in September whether there is any side effect in her ears or not, the report said.
The former prime minister's ears were badly damaged in a grisly grenade attack on an Awami League rally in the capital on August 21, 2004. At least 24 people were killed and 200 others were injured in the attack.
The government freed Hasina on June 11 to facilitate her treatment abroad. She went to the USA the following morning.
Hasina flew to Toronto, Canada, on Wednesday. She arrived at Toronto Airport at zero hour and was received by her daughter Saima Wazed Putul and sister Sheikh Rehana. Rehana arrived in Toronto from London a few days ago to invite Hasina to attend her son's marriage ceremony in UK.
Hasina might stay with her daughter for a week and then fly to London.
