MK Anwar, son sued for harassing journo
A case was filed against detained former agriculture minister MK Anwar, his son, daughter and a Jubo Dal leader on charges of harassment and corruption in Comilla yesterday.
AKM Salauddin Ahmed of Tuzarbhanga village in Daudkandi upazila filed the case with a judicial magistrate court.
The other accused in the case are Anwar's daughter Khadiza Anwar, son Mahmud Kaizer Anwar and Meghna upazila unit Jubo Dal general secretary Zahirul Islam.
Salauddin, staff reporter of the daily Inqilab, alleged that Anwar, misusing his power, had influenced some government officials and his party men to file 30 'false' cases against him as he published news stories on irregularities and corruption of Anwar's followers.
The reporter was sentenced to 34 years and three months in jail. He has recently been freed on High Court bail.
Khadiza Anwar passed the 22nd BCS examinations and joined the administration cadre allegedly by means of forgery in connivance with her father.
"She has recently been suspended on charge of the forgery," he said in his complaint.
Magistrate Sarwar Alam ordered the officer-in-charge at Daudkandi Police Station to investigate the case.
