Arrest warrant against Morshed Khan, wife
A Dhaka court yesterday issued arrest warrants against absconding former foreign minister M Morshed Khan and his wife Nasrin Khan in a case filed for amassing wealth worth Tk 1.67 crore illegally and giving false information to the commission.
Meanwhile, another Dhaka court issued arrest warrant against absconding former BNP lawmaker from Narayanganj Giasuddin Ahmed after the National Board of Revenue (NBR) filed a case against him for evading Tk 6.70 crore in income tax from 1997 to 2006.
MORSHED KHAN CASE
Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Azizul Haque passed the order after examining all relevant documents.
ACC Assistant Director Talebur Rahman, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, on Tuesday submitted the charge sheet against the couple to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court showing 24 people as prosecution witnesses.
The IO prayed for issuing arrest warrants against them and the order to attach their properties, as they have been absconding since the case was filed with the Gulshan Police Station on December 10 last year.
In the charge sheet, the IO said Morshed Khan had submitted his wealth statement to the ACC on July 10 last year saying that he has properties worth Tk 17.41 crore.
But in the probe, it was found that the senior BNP leader had amassed wealth worth about Tk 1.67 crore illegally and concealed information about his wealth worth Tk 91 lakh in the statement.
Nasrin was accused in the case for abetting her husband.
GIASUDDIN CASE
NBR Deputy Tax Commissioner AKM Atiqul Haque filed the case with the Dhaka Senior Special Judge's Court for committing the offences.
Judge Azizul Haque issued arrest warrant against the accused and fixed June 30 for next hearing.
In the case statement, the complainant said the former BNP lawmaker from Narayanganj concealed information about his wealth worth Tk 26.37 crore in his statement submitted to the NBR.
