Three get life for rape in Satkhira, Mymensingh

Three persons have been awarded life term imprisonment for separate incidents of rape in Satkhira and Mymensingh.
Satkhira Women and Children Repression Prevention Court yesterday sentenced a man to suffer life term rigorous imprisonment (RI) in the case for abducting and raping a six-year-old girl, reports our Satkhira correspondent.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000, in default he is to suffer six months more RI, court sources said.
The convict is Momin Uddin of village Majhhiara in Tala upazila, abducted the victim a six year old girl (Nadia Sultana Rakhi daughter of Pir Ali Moral ) of village Majhhiara in Tala upazila from her house and raped her on March 29 in 2006, goes the prosecution.
After examining all the records and witnesses, Judge Motazidur Rahman of Women and Children Repression Preventive Court gave the verdict in presence of the accused.
Our Mymensingh correspondent adds: Mymensingh Women and Children Repression Prevention Court yesterday sentenced two persons to life term rigorous imprisonment in a rape case this noon. The court also fined Tk one lakh each, in default to suffer one year more behind the bar.
The convicts -- Shajahan and Halud Miah of village Mrigaly in Iswarganj upazila, raped
Rokeya Begum, a child daughter of Fazlur Rahman of village Mrigaly in Iswarganj upazila when she was returning home from her private tutor's house on June 4 in 2004, goes the prosecution.
After examining witnesses and evidences, Narendra Chandra Das, the learned judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention handed down the punishment.
