Bangladesh ranks poorly on a global survey of network evaluation

Bangladesh has ranked 124 out of the 127 countries evaluated for the network readiness index of 2007-08, slipping from the 118th position last year, according to a global survey.
The World Economic Forum in cooperation with INSEAD, the leading international business school, produces the report styled 'The Global Information Technology Report'.
According to the report, Denmark is the most advanced economy, in terms of network coverage, in the world, followed by Sweden and Switzerland. Among the top ten, the Republic of Korea, who bagged the 9th position, and the United States, who took the 4th position, posted the most notable improvements.
Under the theme, 'fostering innovation through networked readiness', this year's report places particular focus on the role of networked readiness to spur innovation.
Bangladesh's neighbours, India and Pakistan, ranked 50th and 89th respectively.
Published for the seventh consecutive year with record coverage of 127 economies worldwide, the report has become the world's most comprehensive and authoritative international assessment of the impact of ICT on the development process and the competitiveness of nations.
The index, featured in the report, measures the factors, policies and services facilitating the free flow of goods over borders and to destination. The index breaks the enablers into four overall issue areas, market access, border administration, transport and communications infrastructure and the business environment.
Can Bangladesh be Asia's next tech destination?
