Yellow, White panels share CU dean posts

Prof Gazi Saleh Uddin of Awami League-backed 'Yellow Panel' and Prof Harunur Rashid of pro-BNP-Jamaat 'White Panel' have been elected deans of the social science and commerce faculties of Chittagong University (CU) respectively.
CU Acting Registrar Mohammad Jahurul Islam was the returning officer of the polls held at the commerce faculty auditorium from 10:00am to 1:00pm yesterday.
Prof Gazi, a faculty of Sociology department and also the incumbent dean of the Social Science faculty, defeated White Panel candidate Prof Abdul Mannan Chowdhury of Economics department.
Meanwhile, Prof Harun of Accounting department beat Prof Sultan Ahmed Chowdhury, also a syndicate member, of the same department.
