Two firearms, 3300 bottles of phensidyl seized
Police and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in separate drives seized two firearms and 3300 bottles of phensidyl from Benapole and Satkhira in the last two days.
Acting on a tip-off, police recovered two Indian pistols from Dhanyakhol and Goga villages at Benapole in an abandoned condition yesterday morning.
In another drive, BDR seized a private car along with 400 bottles of phensidyl from Putikhali village at Benapole yesterday.
However, none was arrested in this connection.
Another report from Dinajpur adds: Detective Branch of Police on Wednesday raided a house at Daulatpur village in Chirirbandar upazila and recovered a pistol and three rounds of bullet.
House owner Shahin, accused in a number of cases, went into hiding sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
Another report from Satkhira adds: The joint forces seized 2,900 bottles of phensidyl from a truck at Reu Bazar in Satkhira Sadar in the early hours of yesterday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Abdul Kader Beg said the driver managed to flee leaving the vehicle behind.
