Dhanmodi Police Station OC, 2 SIs suspended

Officer-in-charge (OC) and two sub-inspectors (SI) of Dhanmodi Police Station were suspended yesterday on charges of registering a robbery case as a theft case.
"OC Monwar Hossain and SIs Masud Karim and Rafiqul Islam were suspended as they did not file the case under the proper section of the law," Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ramna zone Atiqur Rahman told The Daily Star last night.
Sources said a robbery was committed in a house at Dhanmondi on May 22. But when the complainant came to the police station to file a robbery case, the OC and the SIs filed it as a theft case.
The higher authorities suspended the policemen after they came to know of it.
