2 ex-MPs sued for ill-gotten wealth

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday filed two cases against two former lawmakers for amassing illegal wealth.
ACC Assistant Director Kazi Shamsul Islam filed an FIR (first information report) with Ramna Police Station against former BNP MP Mujibur Rahman Monju (Kishoreganj-6) for acquiring wealth worth Tk 74.12 lakh beyond his known sources of income and concealing information about it.
The official filed another FIR with the same police station against former Awami League MP Atique (Sherpur-1) for amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 55.4 lakh and concealing information of it.
Both the cases were filed under sections 26(2) and 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and section 15 of the Emergency Power Rules, 2007.
