Nat'l flag at half mast today to mourn deaths in Myanmar, China
The national flag will be kept half mast today at all government, semi-government, autonomous and non-governmental organisation buildings across the country and Bangladesh missions abroad to mourn the deaths in the cyclone and earthquake disasters in Myanmar and China.
“The government has taken the decision today to pay respect to the people who died in the recent cyclone and earthquake in Myanmar and China respectively,” a release from the Press Information Department said yesterday.
UND adds that some 78,000 people were officially reportedly killed as cyclone Nargis ravaged the coast of Myanmar on May 3 while the death toll has crossed 40,000 in China after the devastating earthquake on May 12.
