5000 phones inoperative for cable theft

Five thousand telephones of Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) went out of order since yesterday morning as the underground cable was stolen, says a BTTB release.
According to the source, around 12 metres of underground cable were stolen.
The repairing works are going on and the inoperative telephones will start working within four to five days, it added.
A theft case was filed with Khilgaon Police Station in this connection.
