Rabindra Jayanti celebration in Sylhet
On the occasion of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore's 147th birth anniversary, different organisations and institutions arranged programmes in Sylhet recently. These included discussions, music, dance and more.
Bengali department, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) organised a discussion and cultural programme on Pachishey Baishakh. Assistant Professor Md. Ashraful Karim chaired the discussion on Tagore's life and works. Among others, lecturer Dr. Md. Rezaul Islam; Assistant Professor Md. Faizul Haque and students participated at the discussion. Students of the department also arranged a cultural programme featuring Rabindra Sangeet and poems written by the bard.
Bangladesh Betar, Sylhet centre also arranged a programme -- featuring performances by artistes of Anandalok, a local organisation -- on Pachishey Baishakh. The programme was aired live from 9 am. The programme was directed by the chief of Anandolok, Rana Kumar Sinha. Artistes Joly Dey, Munna Dutta, Shilpi Das, Sharmin Rezwan, Mousumi Talukdar, Auditi Paul, Sudipta Paul, Sadia Jahan, Sajeda Akhtar Mita, Biman Talukder, Ripon Roy and Mitu Das rendered Tagore songs at the programme.
Anandalok also organised another programme that included a discussion and a musical soiree at the M. Saifur Rahman Audtitorium on the same day.
