Transfer on schedule
Although there had been a little tension among the professional league clubs about the long gap between transfer and start of the B. League, the footballers transfer will begin on schedule On May 15.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Kazi Salahuddin confirmed this yesterday after a successful meeting between the B. League committee and clubs at the BFF Bhaban.
He also promised to give 70 percent amount of the sponsorship money to the clubs equally tin a bid to boost their financial crisis.
"Both parties seemed to be happy about the meeting and we have agreed on most points," said Salahuddin adding that they will consider the suggestions of the clubs.
"Some of the suggestions are logical, some are not. They want to start the league earlier to reduce cost of camps and we will try to listen to this plea."
The second edition of the B. League is set for a September start but it could well begin by August.
"The decision will be finalised after more meetings between club and federation, which has to nurse the clubs all the time. Our target is to start football and we will give you a certain picture within a couple of days," the BFF boss told reporters.
"The clubs have agreed not to break the tri-party agreement that had set May 15 as the start of transfers," he added.
One issue, however, has yet to be settled as the B. League committee could not take any decision on relegation.
"Many clubs are against it but I personally believe in relegation," commented Salahuddin.
B. League committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedi said he was happy to clear the tension of the clubs.
"We have to take the clubs wherever we go. So its nice to have agreed on the issues," said the BFF senior vice-president Salam, who is a councillor from Mohammedan.
However, there was no Mohammedan representative in the meeting.
B. League committee vice-chairman Kazi Nabil, who had earlier asked the federation to relieve him off duties as SAFF Championship team leader and vice-chairman of B. League committee, also was in the meeting.
"There was misinterpretation about my letter to the BFF. Many have reported that I wanted to resign but in fact, I asked the federation to relieve me from those duties," Nabil told.
"I represent a club (Abahani), so I thought it would be wise not to be in an important position in this committee. However, the president has given me confidence so I have decided to stay in this committee.
"About the SAFF team leader, I would not be able to serve the team when they would be abroad due to heavy business commitment in the next month. I wanted out because I cannot give 100 percent. But I will be with the team and help it in every possible way during their preparation at home," added Nabil.
"There could have been some misunderstanding as we had to form the committees in very short time after assuming duties. It has become clear now but the fact that Nabil cannot give 100 percent when the team will be away for 17 days really hurt me," Salahuddin commented.
Nabil's reluctance will force the BFF to find a new team leader for the June 3-14 SAFF Championship in Sri Lanka and Maldives.
