Bomb blows away farmer's hand in Jhenidah
A farmer's hand was blown away and his two eyes were damaged in a bomb explosion in Jhenidah yesterday. He also suffered injuries in other parts of his body.
The incident took place on the bank of Nabaganga river while he was preparing a seed bed.
Informed, police recovered another abandoned bomb from the spot.
The injured farmer was identified as Kasim Mondal, 45, of Pabahati area of Jhenidah town.
Police and locals said, Kasim Mondal was preparing a seed bed near the river. A bomb exploded when he dug the soil with his spade.
The bomb blew away his left hand and damaged both his eyes.
He was rushed to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital. Doctors there said yesterday evening that his condition was critical.
This was the second such incident in two days.
