BTTB operator gets 3 years
An anti-graft tribunal yesterday sentenced a telephone operator of Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) to three years' imprisonment for not submitting wealth statement to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The convict Mohammad Shajahan, a telephone operator of the overseas trunk call section at Moghbazar branch of T&T, is currently on the run.
The Seventh Special Court of Judge Sirajul Islam also fined Shajahan Tk 5 lakh, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment.
ACC Assistant Director Abu Bakar Siddique filed the case against Shajahan with Ramna Police Station on May 16 of last year for not submitting wealth statement.
