11 more Taliban killed in Afghan clashes
The Defence Ministry says clashes and airstrikes in southern Afghanistan have left 11 Taliban militants dead.
The ministry says that seven militants have been killed in clashes and airstrikes in the southern Helmand province.
It also says another four militants have been killed in a clash in neighbouring Kandahar province.
In Zabul province, a roadside bomb hit an Afghan army patrol, wounding five soldiers, the ministry said in a statement Monday. All incidents happened on Sunday.
Over 1,000 people, mostly militants, have died in insurgency-related violence this year, according to an Associated Press count based on numbers provided by Afghan and Western officials.
