5 killed, 22 injured in road accidents
At least five people were killed and twenty-two others injured in separate road accidents in Gaibandha, Dinajpur and Kushtia yesterday and on Friday night.
Our Gaibandha correspondent reports: One person was killed and five others were injured in a road accident on Rangpur-Bogra highway at Chapriganj in Gaibandha yesterday.
The victim was identified as Shahidul Islam, 35.
Police said the accident occurred when a Rangpur-bound speeding truck knocked a rickshaw van from behind. The van skidded off the road and fell into the roadside ditch leaving the van puller Shahidul dead on the spot.
Five passengers of the van sustained injuries and were taken to Gobindaganj health complex.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds: Two people were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident in Dinajpur yesterday.
One of the victims was identified as Md Aminul Islam, 35 and another victim's name yet to be known.
Police quoting locals said the accident occurred when a passenger bus fell into a roadside ditch loosing its control due to burst out of its left tyre at Nashipur village under Dinajpur sadar upazila leaving 15 injured.
The injured were rushed to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital where Aminul and another unknown person succumbed to their injuries.
Our Kushtia Correspondent adds: Two people, including a rickshaw van puller, were killed and two others injured in a road accident on Kushtia-Khulna highway at Swastipur under Sadar upazila in the district on Friday night.
The dead were identified as rickshaw van puller Sujan, 18, son of Ismail, and Sumon, 24, son of Azhar Uddin, of Alampur under Sadar upazila in the district.
The accident occurred when a sand-laden truck hit a rickshaw van from behind leaving two people dead on the spot.
