3 hurt while making bombs in B'baria

Police suspect bombs were being made to foil Pahela Baishakh festivities

At least three persons were injured when a bomb they were making exploded at a shoe factory near Bhadughar bus terminal in the town yesterday.
Police recovered some bomb-making ingredients, two knives and one billhook from the spot.
Traffic on Brahmanbaria-Comilla road remained disrupted for about an hour after the incident.
Eyewitnesses said they heard an explosion at the shoe factory and saw dense smoke, sending panicked people and transport workers nearby on heels.
They told police that they saw three injured persons running away with stains of blood on their clothes.
Being informed, a police team headed by ASP (Sadar circle) Md Jahirul Islam raided the spot took five of the witnesses to custody for interrogation.
Police set up check posts on 10 points in the area after the incident.
Police said they suspect that miscreants were making bombs to foil Pahela Baishakh festivities in the town.
Police said they have launched a massive drive in the town including hospitals and clinics to arrested the three injured persons.
Asked by newsmen about identity of the miscreants, police said intelligence people have been deployed in the town and things will come out in a day or two.
