Youth beaten to death in Rajshahi
A youth was beaten to death by a group of drug addicts for his alleged refusal to purchase phensidyl from them at Khatur village under Godagari upazila of Rajshahi yesterday.
The dead was identified as Habibur Rahman Habib, 35, son of Monsur Rahman, village of Khatur under Godagari upazila.
Local sources said Habib involved in an altercation with local drug addicts Mustakin, Ruhul and Rahim as they ordered Habib to buy the narcotic drug from them.
Being refused to purchase phensidyl, the addicts -- Deljit, Mustakim, Ruhul Amin, Abdur Rahim and Mostofa -- stroke Habib with iron rods and bamboo sticks, leaving him seriously injured.
Habib was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Following the incident, Habib's wife Anjura Khatun filed a murder case with Godagari police station, accusing 10 persons in this connection.
Later, the police arrested drug-addict Ruhul Amain at Khatur Bazar area.
Local source said Habib was a close aide of the drug addicts.
