'Journalists are mouthpiece of people'
Journalists should be the mouthpiece of people, ignoring any fear during any government.
This was stated by speakers at a seminar on 'The Role of Journalists and Expectation of People' held at Dinajpur Press Club yesterday.
They also called for inclusion of journalists in districts in the Wage Board award for newsmen.
Md. Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Editor of Bangladesh Observer, attended the seminar as chief guest.
Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Jalil Bhuiyan president and secretary respectively of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ); Altaf Mahmud, president of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Omar Farook and Mollah Jalal attended it as special guests.
Chitta Ghosh, president of Dinajpur Press Club presided over the meeting.
They urged newspaper owners to pay salary in conformity with responsibility of journalists.
About 500 journalists from districts under greater Dinajpur and Rangpur attended at the day-long meeting.
