Tk 236.18cr BCC budget announced
The annual budget of Barisal City Corporation (BCC) amounting to over Tk 236.18 crore for the current fiscal was announced yesterday.
The budget envisages a revenue income of Tk 39.32 core from its own sources and Tk 196.86 core as grants from other sources.
The budget proposal imposes no new tax.
Awlad Hossain Dilu, mayor-in-charge, announced the budget in presence of ward commissioners, officials and journalists at BCC conference room.
He said the budget laid emphasis on providing basic services to citizens including development of roads and slums, free birth registration, immunization, water supply, health, sanitation and beautification of the city.
A Tk 32.62 core has been earmarked as revenue expenditure, Tk 24.5 core for infrastructure development, Tk 22.07 core for implementation of development programmes under Japanese grant, Tk 20 core for implementation of different projects under Bangladesh Municipal Development Fund, Tk 20 core for construction of BCC building, Tk 18 core for construction of surface water treatment plant and Tk 10.66 core for development of newly extended areas of BCC.
Dilu said a complaint centre has started functioning at BCC and taxation section has been computerised to maintain transparency and accountability of its works, he added.
