Tigers land in Johannesburg
The Bangladesh cricket team arrived in Johannesburg yesterday to take part in the Twenty20 World Championships, which begins on September 12.
The Tigers, who were playing a build-up tournament in Nairobi, reached the most populous South African city early afternoon from the Kenyan capital on a local flight. They will take part in their first training session today before playing warm-up matches against Scotland in Centurion Park on Saturday and Sunday.
Bangladesh have shown early promise in this newest version of the game by winning two of their three preparatory games in the triangular tournament and running Pakistan close in the other..
Young gun Nazimuddin has also set himself apart by putting in exceptional performances in first two of the games against Kenya and Pakistan and much is hoped from him.
Bangladesh will play their first match of the tournament proper against West Indies at the New Wanderers Stadium on September 13.
The opening match of the Twenty20 extravaganza starts with the hosts facing the men from the Caribbean on September 11.
