Judicial probe into Momin murder demanded
Family members of slain college student Kamrul Islam Momin yesterday demanded judicial probe into his killing.
Addressing a press conference at the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh, Momin's father Abdur Razzak said they have already rejected the supplementary charge sheet submitted to a court on March 2 and filed a naraji petition demanding its cancellation.
He said the present Investigation Officer (IO) Inspector Farman Ali of the Detective Branch in his supplementary charge sheet dropped the names of 17 accused including AKM Rafiqul Islam, former officer-in-charge of Motijheel Police Station.
“It is not possible for a police official to make fair investigation against another police official. So we have urged the government to conduct a judicial probe into the killing of my son,” Razzak added.
A group of criminals shot Momin dead on his way to college on September 13, 2005.
He was a 3rd year student of management department at Dhaka Commerce College.
Razzak alleged that the hired goons had killed his son over a land dispute between him and OC Rafiq.
He said after their arrest by Rab-4, Zia and Jewel, two self-claimed killers of Momin, confessed before the electronic media and the press on September 26 that they killed Momin at the directive of Rafiq.
Besides, a top criminal Taj, who was deported from India, has also admitted to interrogators that they killed Momin as a sequel to land dispute.
Momin's mother Rahima Khanam, four brothers and two sisters were also present at the press conference.
