DV interviews scheduled for Sept cancelled
The United States Embassy in Dhaka yesterday said all new diversity visa (DV) interviews scheduled for the month of September 2007 have been cancelled.
According to a US Embassy release, the diversity visas are limited by a quota set by the United States Congress. It is not possible to issue more visas than the number which has been allocated.
“Regrettably, there are no more visas available for Bangladeshi citizens for DV-2007. Therefore, new interviews for the diversity visa are cancelled at this time,” the release said.
It said, “We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to those who were scheduled for new DV interviews in September 2007.”
It said Bangladeshi citizens are still eligible to apply for the
diversity visa in the future, and the USA government would welcome their applications.
The US authorities asked the Bangladeshi citizens to note that only diversity visa interviews have been cancelled. Immigration and non-immigration interview appointments are still being processed as normal.
“This change only affects those diversity visa applicants who have not yet had an interview. Please do not make any inquiries to the US Embassy if you have already had your diversity visa interview,” the release added.
The US embassy would contact all the applicants whose cases are still pending before the end of the DV-2007 year (September 30, 2007).
