6 killed in road accidents
Six people were killed and another was injured in road accidents in Chittagong, Jessore, Faridpur and Joypurhat yesterday.
Our Chittagong correspondent reports, two people were killed in road accidents in Chittagong yesterday.
In an incident, CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Ekramul Haq, 30, died on the spot as a truck hit his vehicle on Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Kumira Bazar in Sitakunda upazila, said Sitakunda Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Sohel Imtiaz.
Meanwhile, garage-worker Abu Hanif, 26, was killed as a truck hit him when he was working at a motor garage beside a road in Salimpur area in the upazila.
He died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said sources in the hospital's police outpost.
Our Jessore correspondent reports, a madrasa student was killed and another was injured in a road accident on Jessore-Chaugachha highway at Koierpara in Chaugachha upazila of Jessore yesterday.
The deceased was Osman Goni, 16, a student of THL Karatia Dakhil Madrasa. The injured Hasibul, 17, was also a student of the madrasa.
Anwar Hossain, principal of madrasa, said the accident took place as the victims fell down from the roof of a bus when they were traveling by the bus to Mujibnagar on a study tour.
Our Faridpur correspondent reports, two people were killed in road accidents in Faridpur yesterday.
In an incident, Shahid Sheikh 32, died on the spot as a bus hit his motorcycle in Mohila road area in Faridpur sadar upazila around 7:00am.
Abdus Sattar, 40, died on the spot as a truck ran him over in front of Aziz Pipes Mills in Shibrampur area the upazila around 1:00pm.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reports, a man was killed in a road accident in front of Joypurhat Circuit House yesterday.
The deceased was Alam Hossain, 65, a resident of Hatil area in Joypurhat municipality.
Police said the accident took place as a bus hit Alam when he was crossing the road around 10:00am.
He died at Joypurhat Modern Hospital.
