8 jailed for life for triple murder
A court here on Tuesday sentenced eight people to life term imprisonment and awarded 11 others different jail terms in a triple murder case.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more in jail.
The convicts who were jailed for life are Supreme Bhar, 55, Monilal Bhar, 22, Shiblal Bhar, 30, Ram Narayan Bhar, 25, Narayan Bhar, 30, Ranjit Nayek, 20, Lob Kumar Nayek, 35, and Sumon Nayek, 20.
The 11 others were sentenced to jail for three to six months each.
They are Matilal Pachi, 18, Monoranjan Nayek, 35, Munna Nayek, 20, Lalla Nayek, 18, Nimai Nayek, 60, Mintu Nayek, 18, Ram Deo Bhar, 60, Rajan Bhar, 18, Hira Lal Pachi, 26, Krishna Nayek, 45, and Haridro Nayek, 35.
The convicts were present in the dock when judge of the Speedy Trial Tribunal Dilip Kumar Devnath pronounced the verdict.
According to the prosecution, the aforesaid people killed Shankar Bin, Monoronjon Bin and Milon Bin on 1 May, 2010 at a tea garden in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar.
Durga Prashad Bin, father of Shankar Bin, filed a case accusing 19 people in this connection.
On February 28, 2011, Mizanur Rahman, sub-inspector of Kamalganj police station and investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet accusing 17 of them.
However, the rest two were included after a court order.
