BNP activists vandalise Bogra court
Leaders and activists of youth and volunteer wings of BNP went on the rampage at a Bogra court after six of their men accused in a case were denied bail yesterday.
The Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal and Swechchasebak Dal men also vandalised at least 15 vehicles on the court premises and on nearby roads while escaping.
Later, the six who were denied bail by an additional judicial magistrate's court in an explosives case, surrendered to the court, reports our Bogra correspondent.
They are among the 44 opposition men accused in a case a leader of the Jubo League, youth wing of the ruling Awami League, filed on December 13 last year over a clash in the town.
The High Court had earlier granted bail to all the 44 till February 16.
Yesterday, 40 of them appeared before the magistrate's court and sought bail.
Furious at the denial of bail to six of them, the accused vandalised furniture in the courtroom.
The six include Jubo Dal Bogra district unit President Shipar Al Bakhtiar and General Secretary Arafatur Rahman Apel, Swechchhasebak Dal district unit President Shah Mehedi Hasan Himu, Jubo Dal town unit Joint Secretary Adil Shahriar Gorky, Assistant Secretary Mohram Ali Tofin and activist Shah Alam.
Court Sub-Inspector Emdadul Bari told this correspondent a case will be filed against the vandals.
