Tough contest for div round tickets

The Daily Star Spelling Bee yesterday continued its activation rounds in Dhaka and conducted the zonal activation of its online rounds in Faridpur.
The students who qualified for the Divisional Round from Scholastica in the capital's Uttara were Ishad Mustafa of Class VIII and Mithul Roy and Munawar Rashid Raiyan of Class IX.
Six qualifiers emerged from the zonal activation in Faridpur with Adrita Khan of Class IX and Nayeema Noor Rodela of Class X from Faridpur Government Girls' High School.
The top spellers from Faridpur Zilla School were Samiur Rahman of Class VI and Nafiz Shahriar Apon and Biswajit Sarkar of Class X.
Mutahina Mumu a student of Class X from Police Lines High School was the only one who moved on the next round from her school.
Students of classes VI to X can take part in the contest by registering and playing the Spelling Bee game on champs21.com. The bulk of the qualifiers will be selected via the online game. Contestants can play the game as many times as they want and only their best score will be considered. The top scorers in the online game will qualify for the next round.
The online round ends on February 28.
The winner of the Spelling Bee gets Tk 5 lakh worth of education insurance from Metlife Alico and an all-expenses-paid trip to the USA. The second and third runners-up will get Tk 3 lakh and Tk 2 lakh worth of education insurance respectively.
