5 spellers from Rajshahi thru'
The second season of Spelling Bee, a competition where participants spell words aloud, is generating more and more interest in Bangladesh as schools all over the country are being visited.
Champs21 yesterday visited Rajshahi Cadet College, where five participants secured Golden Tickets to move on to the divisional rounds of the competition. The qualifiers were Class 9 student HM Kamrul Ahsan and Class 10 students Md Akramul Haque, Mehedi Hasan, Shuvrodeb Biswas and Md Abid Jahan.
In Khulna, a number of schools have been visited in the past few days. On Sunday, four schools were visited. From Rosedale International School and College, Mehak Banu (Class 6), Quazi Afnan Ahmed (Class 9) and Zarin Mesbah (Class 10) qualified. In South Herald English School, the top spellers were Tamanna Farhin Disha (Class 9), Mumtahina Rubayat Rawshan (Class 6) and Safran Masud (Class 8).
On the same day was visited T & T Adarsha High School where the qualifiers were Nabila Sultana Chamelee (Class 10), Akhi Akter (Class 9) and Jannatul Ferdous Juli (Class 8). The other school visited was Khulna Engineering University School, where Class 10 students Alex Hridoy Mondal and Khan Saleh Ahmad and Class 7 student Abidatur Rahman triumphed.
On Monday, Khulna Collegiate Girls' School was visited. From the school, Jamima Yasmin Luna, Sadia Yasmin Kanta and Atkia Mysha -- all students of Class 8 -- got through to the next round.
The school activation round in Dhaka is on hold because of hartals but will resume soon. The online rounds are open for all until February 28.
Anyone who did not qualify through their school can still participate through the online game on www.champ21.com.
The Spelling Bee finals are to be held in June.
