BNP leader shot dead in Noakhali
A local BNP leader was shot dead by criminals at Bansa village in Chatkhil upazila of the district on Sunday night.
Deceased Nur Mohammad Milon, 40, son of Master Sirajul Islam of the village, was joint convener of local BNP and president of Bansa Bazar traders' association.
Locals saw Nur Mohammad lying in a pool of blood under the mobile phone tower in the area and informed police at around 9:00pm.
He was rushed to Chatkhil upazila health complex where doctors pronounced him dead. Doctors said, Nur Mohammad sustained bullet wounds in the chest which caused his death.
The body was sent to Noakhali Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Locals protested the killing of the BNP leader and demanded arrest of the accused.
They also blocked the Chatkhil-Chishti Highway for more than an hour.
