Rescue abducted girl in 48hrs: HC
The High Court yesterday directed law enforcers to rescue in 48 hours and bring before it a 17-year-old girl who was abducted by some influential locals from Khulna's Golachipa upazila on January 21.
Anwar Hossain, his son Mojibur Rahman Tipu and their accomplices abducted Ritumoni alias Mori after attacking her family, including her father Manoranjan Baghmar and uncle Anil Baghmar, and vandalising their houses centring a land dispute, says a January 28 Janakantha report.
Anil then filed a case with Golachipa Police Station on January 23 accusing Anwar, Mojibur, Julhas, Russel, Bachchu Hawlader, Jahangir Hawlader, Delwar Hossain, Fazlul Huq and several others.
The HC bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik and Justice Mahmudul Hoque also ordered the local administration to provide adequate security for the victims and repair the houses in 20 days.
It issued a rule upon the Khulna DC , SP, chief judicial magistrate, UNO and Golachipa OC to explain in 12 days why they should not be directed to take appropriate legal action against the miscreants.
The order and rule came following hearing of a January 30 petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Eunus Ali Akond.
