Sust business admin dept head sent on leave amid protest

Amid continued demonstration of students, the authorities of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (Sust) sent the head of the business administration department, Prof Nazrul Islam, "on leave" and appointed an assistant professor as the acting head yesterday.
Prof Nazrul went on leave for an indefinite period for "physical illness", said an official order. Assistant Professor Toufiq Mahmud Hasan "replaced" him.
The department students had been demonstrating since January 21 demanding removal of Prof Nazrul, alleging that he was involved in irregularities and misbehaved with students and teachers. With the demand remaining unmet, the agitators began a fast unto death on the campus from Monday.
