CU teacher sent to jail on attempt-to-rape charge

A Chittagong court yesterday sent a teacher of Chittagong University (CU) to jail in an attempt-to-rape case filed with Khulshi Police Station by his domestic help on Friday evening.
Police on Friday arrested CU Statistics Department Associate Professor Chandan Kumaar Podder from his residence after his wife, Munna Bhowmik, informed police of the matter, said Khulshi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Latif.
The court fixed today for next hearing of the case. In her First Information Report (FIR), 15-year-old domestic help said the teacher attempted to abuse her in absence of his wife around 4:00pm on January 22.
