'Recognise 1969 martyrs'

Speakers at a programme yesterday called for giving the martyrs of the 1969 mass uprising due recognition.
Due to lack initiatives of the government and mass media, young generation can not know more about the martyrs, they said.
The speakers told a programme organised to pay homage to Shaheed Asad and Shaheed Matiur Rahaman at the Liberation War Museum at Segun Bagicha in the capital.
Shaheed Matiur's father Azhar Ali Mallik said, "Motiur lost his life fighting for his country but people are gradually forgetting his name and his contributions as there are no proper initiatives to keep his struggles alive in the nation's memory."
