Abducted madrasa girl, schoolboy rescued
Police in Gopalganj rescued a nine-year-old madrasa girl yesterday while arrested three for abducting a 8-year-old schoolboy in Chuadanga on the previous day.
Police rescued the class-III madrasa student and arrested three alleged abductors from Ghosherchar area on the outskirt of Gopalganj district town yesterday noon.
The arrestees are Shipan, 24, Sohel Mollah, 22 and Kamrul Biswas, 38, reports a correspondent.
Sub-inspector at Gopalganj police station Md Iqbal Hossain said Shipan, identifying himself an uncle, picked the girl up on a microbus on Wednesday noon from Chandradighalia Madrasa in Sadar upazila.
They locked her at a room in Ghosherchar area and demanded Tk 3 lakh from her father on mobile phone.
Later, being informed, police raided the Ghosherchar house yesterday, rescued her and also arrested the three abductors.
But the main planner, Aziz Khan, managed to flee the scene, police said.
In Chuadanga, police arrested three college students on charge of abducting a schoolboy at Sorojganj in Sadar upazila Wednesday night, reports our Kushtia correspondent.
According to police, Sariful Islam, 22, son of Akbor Ali of Masterpara, Samir Kumar Ghosh, 23, son of Madan Kumar of Kacharipara and Yunus Ali, 21, son of Monir Uddin of Nabinagar in Sadar upazila of the district abducted Nahid Hasan, 8, son of Sahidul Islam of Sorijganj on Wednesday.
The three youths were intermediate students at Badarganj Degree College in the district.
Officer in-charge (OC) of Chuadanga Sadar police station Ershadul Bari told this correspondent that the college students abducted the boy, a student of class two at Annur Islami Academy in the town, and tried to take him to India.
On information, police raided Chuadanga bus terminal at about 7.30pm and rescued the boy. Police arrested Sariful Islam from the spot and later rounded up the other two.
