Rahul takes charge as Congress VP
Rahul Gandhi, the scion of Nehru-Gandhi family, yesterday officially took charge as India's ruling Congress party's second-in-command saying he intends to practice "positive politics" in an "acrimonious political environment".
Rahul, 42, whom many see as India's future prime minister, said Congress is the best instrument for change, the best instrument to bring youngsters into politics.
"And I want to try and use this instrument to bring change and make it accessible to youngsters", Rahul added.
Rahul, the lawmaker from Amethi, was elevated to the post of vice-president of Congress last Sunday. He is second only to party president and his mother Sonia Gandhi.
