German, France lay foundation stone for common embassy
German and France yesterday laid the foundation stone of a new building for a common embassy of the two countries in the capital marking the 50th anniversary of signing of the Elysée Treaty.
First ever of its kind in the world, the building will symbolise the reconciliation and cooperation between the two countries, which left behind centuries of their rivalry with the signing of the treaty on January 22, 1963.
German Ambassador to Bangladesh Albrecht Conze and French Ambassador to Bangladesh Michel Trinquier jointly laid the foundation stone on 13 Embassy Road, Baridhara.
