Husband arrested

Police yesterday arrested the fugitive husband of Sadia Islam Rita, who was found beheaded at a rented house in the capital's Mirpur on Thursday.
Rita, 23, of Kushtia, used to live at the house with her husband Manik Mia Bepary, 32, of Sakhipur village under Sadar upazila in Shariyatpur. Manik had gone into hiding ever since the murder.
Police arrested him yesterday morning from Pirganj Bazar under Pirganj municipality in Thakurgaon in connection with his wife's murder, said Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pirganj Police Station.
Manik was attempting to sneak into India through border and then police caught him, the OC added.
The police handed over Manik to Mirpur Police Station where a case has been filed in connection with Rita's murder.
Her beheaded body was discovered after her neighbours noticed malodour coming from her house and informed the matter to the house owner who informed police about it.
