Teenage boy injured in BSF firing
A Bangladeshi teenage boy was severely injured as Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) shot him at Joypur border point in Mujibnagar upazila of Meherpur yesterday.
The incident took place when some boys were collecting grass for cattle in Bangladesh territory.
Lt Col Kazi Asaduzzaman, commander of Border Guard Bangladesh(BGB) 32 Battalion told this correspondent that a BSF team from Gomra camp in Nadia of Paschimbanga opened fire at the boys around 2:20pm, leaving Abdul Momin, 18, son of Abu Taleb of Joypur in Mujibnagar injured with bullet.
Habibur Rahman, officer in-charge at Mujibnagar police station, said Momin was admitted to Meherpur General Hospital in critical condition as he was hit in his lower abdomen.
Earlier on January 1, the BSF pushed 41 Bangladeshi nationals through the same border point.
