Nirmul committee hopeful of end this yr
Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee leaders expressed hope that trials of the top alleged war criminals will be completed within this year.
They made the remarks on the eve of the committee's 21st anniversary, which will be observed today.
The committee, a forum for secular Bangladesh and trial of the Liberation War criminals, was formed with 101 eminent citizens led by Shaheed Janani Jahanara Imam.
The committee was formed to press home the demands of punishment of war criminals and restricting politics of Jamaat-e Islami, said a press release yesterday.
Meanwhile, to observe the committee's 21st anniversary, the members will organise a discussion today in Women's Voluntary Association (WVA) auditorium in the capital.
Planning Minister AK Khandker and Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, among others, are expected to deliver speeches at the programme.
The members will also place wreaths at Jahanara Imam's grave.
