US gives $1 lakh to help cold-hit people
The United States has given $100,000 (around
Tk 79.73 lakh) to help people, who have been affected by the recent cold wave, in five districts of Bangladesh.
Under a project "Strengthening Household Ability to Respond to Development Opportunities (Shouhardo II)", the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) provided the fund, said a press release.
With the fund, the project implementing agency Care Bangladesh will buy 20,000 blankets and distribute those among 10,000 households in Dinajpur, Sirajganj, Pabna, Jamalpur, and Mymensingh, it said.
The Shouhardo II programme operates in the north-char, the mid-char, the haor belt, and the Cox's Bazar coastal areas reaching 370,000 households.
