United Airways eyes Tk5cr revenue a month
United Airways eyes Tk 5 crore in revenue on an average a month as it is going for expansion on domestic routes after the second aircraft joined its fleet yesterday.
"We are extremely happy to get the aircraft. It will enable us to expand operations," said Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury, chairman and managing director of United Airways.
Tasbirul hoped the second aircraft, Dash-8-100, will increase the strength of the carrier to start operations on new routes.
The private carrier, a venture of non-resident Bangladeshis in the UK, started operations in July last year to grab a slice of Bangladesh aviation market, growing about eight percent a year.
"Our flights will be more frequent following the entry of second aircraft," said the United Airways managing director adding that the carrier will start daily flights on the Dhaka-Barisal route early July this year.
The airline, one of the four private operators here, now operates flights to five domestic destinations.
The carrier is operating seven flights a week to each of this routes -Dhaka- Sylhet and Dhaka-Jessore while 21 weekly flights on the Dhaka-Chittagong route.
At present, it operates three weekly flights on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar route, according to Tasbir.
"We have carried about 50,000 passengers since July last year," he said, "Our average monthly revenue now stands between Tk 2crore and Tk 2.20 crore."
According to Tasbir, the carrier will operate four daily flights on the Dhaka-Chittagong route, three daily flights on the Dhaka-Sylhet route and two daily flights on the Dhaka-Jessore route.
"We will also operate seven flights a week on the Dhaka-Cox's Bazar route instead of existing three flights a week," he said.
