“Medha Bikash”: Aiming to reach students all over the country
Dr. Selina Akhtar Jahan has been involved with educational programmes on TV since 1985. Her unique teaching style enables her to present a topic more easily, which is helpful for the students. One of the most experienced educational show hosts, Dr. Jahan S is currently hosting the BSB Cambrian Medha Bikash a live education programme aired on Channel-i.
The programme aims at helping the examinees of the upcoming SSC (set to start from March 27). Channel- i has been airing the Medha Bikash since 2004.
“The programme tries to help the examinees at the eleventh hour,” says the programme's anchor and English teacher Dr. Selina Akhter Jahan.
No matter how good a student is, it is quite possible to miss something. The programme intends to bring to light these problems and provides the students with a guideline.
Each episode of the programme focuses on a particular subject. The anchor is joined by a teacher of a certain subject and a student who has scored GPA 5, responding to the viewers' queries live on air.
“If coordinated properly, educational programmes on TV can make great contributions,” says Dr. Jahan.
“Arguing the need for more educational programmes, Dr. Jahan said, “TV channels should air educational programmes all through out the year. Many may think that educational programmes are boring but if presented in the right way, these programmes can contribute greatly to our education sector.”
“These programme reach the students in remote areas that lack innovative, skilled teachers,” she said.
Medha Bikash will continue on Channel- i till March 25. he programme is produced by Aminul Islam Razu.
The programme is aired at 4:05 pm everyday, from Saturday to Thursday.
