JU students vow to uphold Liberation War ideology
Hundreds of Jahangirnagar University (JU) students yesterday took an oath to uphold the ideology of the Liberation War in their thoughts and practical lives.
They took the oath after placing wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar.
Hundreds of students, teachers, and staff began the day with a 2km procession from the JU central Shaheed Minar to the National Memorial. They carried colourful banners, festoons and placards related to the Liberation War.
During the month of victory, JU authorities organised the march on the Dhaka-Aricha highway from the university to the National Memorial demanding a faster war crimes trial and greeting freedom fighters along the way.
Teachers and students of Cantonment Public School and College, Saver, also placed wreaths at the National Memorial separately.
Later, the JU students led by JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Anwar Hossain took an oath at the memorial premises with the motto of building Sonar Bangla in accordance with the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
